Well, it is all concrete stain, but what we are talking about here is concrete dye vs acid staining. Both are great products and we use both products, but they have different places in our tool box. We love concrete dyes because they are easy to use, use less water for clean up, take less time because of less clean up. You can re-dye the floor in some cases and there are more color choices. However, at this time, we have not found a concrete dye that is uv stable, so we cannot them in outside projects. So for outside projects, acid stain is still the way go. Both are long lasting wonderful products and give the same look of translucent color to accent the natural properties of concrete.
